As therapists, we often encounter the issue of whether our clients might benefit from medication, along with the psychotherapy we provide. Some clients are already on medication when they come to see us. While many therapists have had some training in this area, it’s always helpful to have a review and update and an opportunity to ask questions. This presentation will provide an overview on the use of psychiatric medications in the treatment of mood/anxiety disorders, insomnia and ADHD and newer non-pharmacologic treatments.
At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will be able to 1) describe when psychiatric medications are indicated in treatment of mood/anxiety disorders, insomnia and ADHD 2) Compare efficacy and side effects of medications used to treat mood and anxiety disorders, insomnia and ADHD 3) analyze treatment algorithms through presentation of clinical case vignettes.
